Children under 21 years of age may apply for a CR2 child visa to travel to the US to live with their parent who has custody or permission from the other parent to take the child to live in the US.

US sponsors must prove you can support your foreign spouse and child above the US poverty line, which is US $21,463 of income per year for a 3 person household.

CR2 child visa applications normally take 4 months to process depending on the caseload of USCIS and US Embassy if the US sponsor resides in a foreign country.

CR2 child visa applications normally take 8 months to process depending on the caseload of USCIS and US Embassy if the US sponsor resides in the US. 

CR2 child visa applicants will receive an official 2 year greencard in the mail 2 - 3 months after arrival in the US.

CR2 child visa applicants do not have to adjust their status, but are required to file for removal of conditions within 90 days after of their 2 year anniversary of their arrival in the US.
